Downtown Mechanicsburg Welcomed the Newest Art Gallery and Artist Community in Central Pennsylvania Thursday, September 21, 2006.
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Downtown Mechanicsburg, just 10 minutes from the state capital, is quickly becoming a thriving art Mecca. Jeffrey Van Boskirk, owner of the 2nd Floor Gallery in Mechanicsburg, opened his second art gallery and artist community in the downtown area on Thursday, September 21, 2006 with a grand opening reception.
The grand opening reception for Gallerie Thirteen included a Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce mixer followed by the formal ribbon cutting with the late Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll. Artist and musician Jonathan Frazier also performed.
At the Grand Opening of Gallerie Thirteen, the late Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll praised Jeffrey Van Boskirk, the gallery owner, for his vision and motivation for making the galleries and the artist community in Mechanicsburg so successful. The success of the galleries in Mechanicsburg is a testimony to the strong art culture in the mid-state area.
Just a block from the 2nd Floor Gallery, Gallerie Thirteen is located at 13 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg. “It's more than just a gallery; it is an artist community.” "We've planned a large location for artist studios, music and great art!" Van Boskirk said.
With more than 4,300 square feet of studio and exhibition space, Gallerie Thirteen features 12 working or display artist studios, a public exhibit space for local and international art. The gallery carries more than 60 local artists as well as works from regional and international artists. Monthy receptions with "Featured Artists" allow the gallery to have over 100 new woks of new art every month. Each time you come to the gallery you will find many new works of art from all types of media. Cards, jewelry, sculpture, paintings and photography, there is somethng for everyone.
